FIREWALL

It is a part of a system or network that is designed to block unauthorized access while permitting authorized communications.

It is a device or set of configured to allow, limit, encrypt, decrypt, traffic between the different areas based on a set of rules and other criteria devices.

Firewalls can be implemented in hardware or software, or a combination of both. Firewalls are frequently used to prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks connected to the Internet, especially intranets. All messages entering or leaving the intranet pass through the firewall, which examines each message and blocks those that do not meet the specified security criteria. It is also common connecting the firewall to a third network, called demilitarized zone, or DMZ, where the servers in the organization that must remain accessible from the external network are located.

A properly configured firewall adds a necessary protection to the network, but in no case should be considered sufficient. Computer security covers more areas and levels of work and protection.
